learning to be a california asian hippie.

i have been looking through the most random shit on the internet for the past 3 hours. wow.
unproductive today. VERY unproductive. NOT good.

went to my bud alex's pad, had a couple of some coolers, and watched a documentary called; "The 11th Hour". human development on nature, it's denial to the involvement of it, its obsessiveness, posession, and the consequences that add upto so much more than fatalities, but also the fatalities and vulnerability of our foggy future.
it was cool i guess.

today, i :
  • woke up around 12, had a cup of coffee, 2 strips of bacon, 2 toasts, and a fried-egg.
  • went running for about an hour after the brunch.
  • came back, took a shower, headed out to old town, pasadena.
  • grabbed a quick snack at starbucks, a tuna salad and a moka frap. yum-o.
  • walked around, drew buildings, palm trees, people, bicycles, cars....
  • came back around 3 or 4, and worked on the midterm review.
  • went over to alex's, then the documentary.
  • came back around 12, and after 3 hours of bs,
  • i'm blogging. :)

now how's that for a 9th sunday in california?

time goes by so quick man...

exposure.

haven't been getting enough of it.
i've been sittin' around at my pad, drawing a whole bunch of perspective lines, left, right measuring points, vanishing points, center and cone of visions, learning draw shapes in 1 pt, and 2 pt perspectives. i've been doing some thinking about how all of this best relates to a career, from an exciting opportunist's perspective. (haha.) i took a trip down to borders today with my new friend from art center at night perspective class Alex Fisher, and read some cool books on architectural design. seeing some of the most amazingly designed buildings of this century through various types of books in the 2nd floor's "art" section, opened my eyes to views of different types of art, that requires much more than just creativity. being out here definitely helps me to keep my eyes on the prize, but it also offers different varieties of subjects and ideas that greases up my brain and really get a feeling of exposure of different art that i have never found interesting and/or considerable. alex and i, certainly not at a right state of mind, (knowing that we have experimented with a hint of fresh herbs and its nutrients) searched through a diverse section of the modern art exposure, and were (mostly i) fascinated by them.

for those of you that are into one thing that you love to do, and are seriously considering it to be your career, be exposed to everything that is related, or even inter-related. for instance, you may be very much into hip hop (not only the music but the culture itself) search not only the modern urban artists such as lil'wayne, kanye west, or t-pain, but really broaden your mind- serach for old school artists, such as nas, krs-one, run dmc, rakim, the roots, a tribe called quest, pharcyde, masta ace, spice 1, eazy-e, mc ren, mc eiht, gangstarr, and so much more. in this specific case of hip-hop, like any other music genres, i believe that where it is going now, relates much to the founders. a quick history lesson and what the artists wrote about in their songs describe the state of mind, their environment, and the way the lived their lives in the 60s and the 70s.

i know, im just preaching again,
but now you've read upto this point. what's a quick googling gonna hurt?!

;)

sincerely,

confucious koo.

what does it mean?

4:00 AM, October 15th, 2008.

being awake at such a late night/early morning triggers my brain to ponder the most outrageous things. today's "half baked, half asleep" topic is: inspiration.

inspiration. to be inspired by something, to act upon the inspiration.
it creates hope, confidence, anxiety for change, to better, and to improve.

in order to be "inspiring", it comes with a little bit of work. some people that i get inspired from include; Luigi Coloni, an italian (no, really?) bio-designer, makin' history. this guy will design the most weirdest shit in the world and be able to back it up with proven science and technology.

Randy Pausch, founder of Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, also a prof at it. He gave the "Last Lecture" at CMU's tradition of the lecture series. The thing is though, he died of Pancreatic cancer, and gave the speech knowing he will eventually leave this world. it's kinda like the last supper, but more nerdy, and a modern form of it.

Syd Mead, the legendary entertainment designer, better known as a futurist. designed some of the most radical and craziest looking vehicles in the 60's, that we look at nowadays and be shocked by.

these are the people that help shape the world to a better place. designers seem to take grasp of many things that seem to take crucial parts in thretening our world environmentally, and this is where art meets reality. where it derives and evolves from a simple form of expressionism, to solving problems and making shit happen for the common good of the whole world, and its people. it's a beautiful thing. and someday, i'd love to take part in this historical steps that only a few will conquer, and millions will remember.

so far, i have been:
-watching magic trick videos on youtube
-doing 2-d design homework
-doing foundation drawing homework (bikes are really hard to draw!)
-attempting to work on my perspective homework
-sobering up.

get inspired from:
-anything
-everything

so..

whats up with these annoying-ass hatred filled minds?
let's hit a little green, get real high, and talk about:

-philosophical ideas and prospects.
-girls and how their mind truly work.
-think of a world full of fruits.
-how we can leave this world a better place than we came in.
-what we're going to eat for munchies
-trials and tribulations
-the ZEITGEIST MOVEMENT
-contemplating the difference between capitalism and socialism.
-does democracy even exist without money?
-what is life supposed to mean, and how are we supposed to be different?

this is the kind of things everyone should be talking about!!! (baked or sober.)

puff puff pass, yo.
